Key Responsibilities
- Design, execute, and analyze experiments for the synthesis and characterization of novel materials.
- Perform comprehensive material characterization using techniques such as SEM, TEM, XRD, FTIR, Raman, DSC, TGA, mechanical testing, and rheology.
- Develop and optimize material processing techniques to achieve desired properties and performance characteristics.
- Collaborate with engineering and product development teams to integrate new materials into existing or new product designs.
- Troubleshoot material-related issues in production or field applications, providing expert analysis and solutions.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, presentations, and scientific publications to document research findings and advancements.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in materials science, identifying new technologies and methodologies relevant to our strategic goals.
Required Skills
- Ph.D. or Master's degree in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or a related engineering field.
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in material synthesis, characterization, and/or processing.
- Proficiency with a wide range of analytical techniques (e.g., SEM, TEM, XRD, FTIR, Raman spectroscopy, mechanical testing).
- Strong understanding of structure-property relationships in various material classes (polymers, metals, ceramics, composites).
- Demonstrated experience in experimental design (DOE) and statistical data analysis.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a strong analytical mindset.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with advanced computational materials science techniques (e.g., DFT, MD simulations).
- Familiarity with intellectual property processes and patent application procedures.
- Prior experience in an industrial R&D setting, preferably in consumer electronics, automotive, or aerospace.
- Proficiency in German is a plus, but not required.
- Strong track record of publications or patents.
