Job Description

The Jamaica Automobile Association (JAA) is looking for dedicated and compassionate individuals to join our team as Roadside Assistance Helpers with flexible schedules, serving the August Town and wider Kingston area. Key Responsibilities
- Respond promptly and efficiently to roadside assistance calls in the August Town and surrounding Kingston areas.
- Provide basic on-site vehicle assistance including jump-starts, tire changes, fuel delivery, and minor mechanical adjustments.
- Assist members with vehicle lockouts using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Assess vehicle issues and determine if further towing or repair services are required, coordinating as necessary.
- Ensure the safety of members and their vehicles at breakdown sites by setting up appropriate safety measures.
- Maintain clear and empathetic communication with members, providing updates and reassurance throughout the service process.
- Accurately document service calls, actions taken, and member information using provided tools and systems.
- Operate and maintain company vehicles and equipment safely and responsibly.
- Adhere to all JAA safety protocols and operational guidelines.
- Represent the JAA brand with professionalism and integrity at all times.
Required Skills
- Valid Jamaican General Driver's License (minimum 2 years experience).
- Basic knowledge of vehicle mechanics and common roadside issues.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and quick thinking under pressure.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to operate basic hand tools and automotive equipment safely.
- Customer service-oriented mindset with a helpful and patient attitude.
- Physical ability to lift moderate weight (e.g., tires) and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Geographic familiarity with August Town and Kingston metropolitan area.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in roadside assistance, towing, or automotive service roles.
- Certification in basic vehicle maintenance or a related technical field.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Experience using GPS and navigation systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
