Key Responsibilities

  • Greet and welcome patients and visitors in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Manage patient appointments, including scheduling, rescheduling, and cancellations.
  • Answer telephone calls, screen and direct calls, take messages, and provide information.
  • Register new patients and update existing patient demographic and insurance information.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere strictly to data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR).
  • Process patient payments, issue receipts, and manage billing inquiries.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing mail, emails, and faxes.
  • Maintain a tidy and organised reception area.
  • Provide administrative support to medical staff as required.
  • Handle patient queries and complaints with empathy and efficiency, escalating when necessary.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar administrative role within a healthcare setting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong organisational and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficiency in using medical office software and general computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Outstanding customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Empathy and a compassionate approach towards patients.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of UK healthcare systems (NHS).
