Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement robust electrical power systems for various industrial and commercial applications.
- Conduct routine, preventative, and corrective maintenance on electrical infrastructure and equipment.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex electrical faults and system anomalies efficiently.
- Perform power system studies including load flow, short circuit, and arc flash analyses.
- Develop, review, and approve technical specifications, schematics, and engineering drawings.
- Ensure strict adherence to all relevant safety standards, electrical codes (e.g., BS 7671), and industry regulations.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and contractors to achieve project objectives.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports, maintenance logs, and project documentation.
- Specify, evaluate, and procure appropriate electrical components and equipment.
- Provide expert technical support and guidance to junior engineers and operational staff.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of proven experience in electrical power system design, installation, and maintenance.
- Proficiency with industry-standard electrical design and analysis software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, SKM PowerTools).
- Strong understanding of UK electrical codes, standards, and safety regulations.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, as well as strong interpersonal abilities.
- Knowledge of industrial control systems, PLCs, and SCADA systems.
- Valid UK driving license for site visits as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a specialized power systems discipline.
- Working towards or already achieved Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with a relevant institution.
- Experience with renewable energy integration (solar, wind) into existing grid infrastructure.
- Demonstrated project management experience, including budgeting and scheduling.
- Familiarity with substation design, operations, and protection schemes.
- Experience working with high voltage (HV) electrical systems.
