Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Civil Engineer with a strong background in infrastructure and road construction to join our client’s dynamic team in Garthdee, Aberdeen. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to the detailed design of infrastructure projects, including roads, highways, drainage systems, and associated civil works, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and specifications.
- Conduct feasibility studies, site investigations, and risk assessments to inform design decisions and project planning.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports, specifications, and tender documentation.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and effectively.
- Supervise on-site construction activities, ensuring quality control, adherence to health and safety regulations, and resolution of technical issues.
- Collaborate with architects, contractors, local authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project integration and successful outcomes.
- Utilize engineering software and tools for design, analysis, and project management (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroDrainage).
- Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the professional development of the team.
- Ensure all work complies with UK regulatory frameworks, local planning policies, and environmental standards.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in civil engineering, specifically within infrastructure and road construction projects.
- Proficiency in industry-standard design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar.
- Demonstrated experience in project management, including budget and schedule control.
- Strong understanding of UK design standards, regulations, and health and safety legislation.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with diverse stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards chartership with a relevant professional institution (e.g., ICE).
