Job Description
Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and professional Driver to join our dynamic logistics and delivery team in Barbican, Kingston. This crucial role involves operating a company-provided vehicle to transport goods safely and efficiently to various locations within Kingston and surrounding areas. As a key frontline ambassador for Career.zycto, you will be responsible for ensuring that all deliveries are made on time, in excellent condition, and with exceptional customer service. We are looking for an individual with a strong commitment to road safety, excellent time management skills, and a positive, customer-focused attitude. You will be an integral part of our daily operations, directly contributing to our reputation for reliability and efficiency. This position requires meticulous attention to detail for vehicle maintenance checks, route planning, and accurate record-keeping of deliveries and pickups. Key Responsibilities
- Operate company vehicles safely and efficiently to transport goods, ensuring timely deliveries and pickups within Kingston and its environs.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the company vehicle, reporting any maintenance issues or defects promptly.
- Load and unload goods, ensuring proper securing and handling to prevent damage during transit.
- Verify accuracy of shipment contents against delivery manifests and obtain necessary signatures for proof of delivery.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and properly fueled company vehicle at all times.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and transportation regulations.
- Provide excellent customer service during deliveries, interacting professionally and courteously with clients.
- Manage delivery schedules and routes effectively to optimize time and fuel consumption.
- Complete all required paperwork, including delivery logs, incident reports, and mileage records, accurately and legibly.
Required Skills
- Valid General Driver's License (e.g., Class C or higher in Jamaica) with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience in commercial driving, preferably in logistics or delivery services.
- Strong knowledge of Kingston and surrounding areas' road networks.
- Excellent defensive driving skills and a strong commitment to road safety.
- Ability to lift and move packages, sometimes weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills for customer interaction.
- Punctuality and strong time management abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification in defensive driving or advanced driver training.
- Experience with route optimization software or GPS navigation systems.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.
