Join Career.zycto as a Crisis Support Worker for our vital Night Shift team, making a profound difference in the lives of individuals experiencing mental health crises, homelessness, domestic violence, substance abuse challenges, or other urgent personal difficulties. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide immediate crisis intervention and emotional support to individuals facing various personal crises during night hours.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to determine the safety and well-being of clients, implementing appropriate safety plans.
  • De-escalate intense situations using proven verbal and non-verbal communication techniques.
  • Offer referrals and connect clients to appropriate community resources, including mental health services, shelters, and emergency medical care.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed, and confidential client records and incident reports.
  • Collaborate effectively with emergency services, law enforcement, and other community partners as needed.
  • Ensure a safe and supportive environment for clients within the crisis support facility.
  • Participate in debriefing sessions and team meetings to enhance service delivery and personal well-being.
  • Adhere strictly to all organizational policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines.
  • Monitor client progress and provide ongoing support as required until a stable resolution is identified.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in crisis intervention, social work, counselling, or a related field.
  • Exceptional active listening and empathetic communication skills.
  • Proven ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in high-stress situations.
  • Strong understanding of mental health conditions, trauma-informed care, and addiction challenges.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team during night shifts.
  • Proficiency in documentation and record-keeping.
  • Valid Mauritian driving license and access to reliable transportation (preferred for community outreach if required).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, or a related human services field.
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR.
  • Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the Mauritian context (e.g., French, Creole, Hindi, Bhojpuri).
  • Experience working with specific vulnerable populations (e.g., youth, elderly, LGBTQ+ individuals).
  • Knowledge of local community resources and social support systems in Mauritius.
