Job Description
Career.zycto is seeking a meticulous and proactive Software Tester to join our growing development team in Broomhill, Sheffield. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the quality and reliability of our cutting-edge software products. You will work closely with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders throughout the entire software development lifecycle, from initial design to deployment and post-release support. Your primary focus will be on designing, executing, and reporting on test plans, finding and documenting bugs, and contributing to the overall enhancement of our product suite.
This position demands a keen eye for detail, a methodical approach to problem-solving, and a deep understanding of various testing methodologies. You will be responsible for both manual and automated testing processes, covering functional, regression, performance, and usability testing. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts based on product requirements and specifications.
- Perform various types of testing, including functional, integration, regression, performance, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Identify, document, prioritize, and track bugs using bug tracking systems, ensuring clear and concise defect reports.
- Collaborate closely with development teams to reproduce, debug, and resolve identified issues in a timely manner.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of QA processes, tools, and methodologies.
- Provide objective feedback to software development project teams on product quality and readiness.
- Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospective meetings, actively contributing to team goals.
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks to improve testing efficiency and coverage.
- Conduct thorough product reviews, offering insights from a user experience and quality perspective.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Software Tester or QA Engineer (minimum 2 years).
- Solid understanding of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
- Experience in writing clear, concise, and comprehensive test plans and test cases.
- Proficiency with bug tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, Azure DevOps, Bugzilla).
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with test automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright).
- Knowledge of SQL and database testing.
- Experience with API testing (e.g., Postman, SoapUI).
- ISTQB certification or similar QA qualification.
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
