Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking an innovative and dedicated Materials Scientist to join our advanced research and development team located in the vibrant Research Airport Area of Braunschweig. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, plan, and execute experiments for the synthesis, processing, and characterization of novel materials.
  • Perform advanced materials characterization using techniques such as SEM, TEM, XRD, FTIR, mechanical testing, and thermal analysis.
  • Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and prepare detailed scientific reports and presentations.
  • Collaborate with engineering and product development teams to understand material requirements and integrate new materials into product designs.
  • Develop and optimize material processing techniques to enhance performance and manufacturability.
  • Contribute to patent applications, scientific publications, and internal technical documentation.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in materials science and related fields, proposing innovative research directions.
  • Ensure strict adherence to laboratory safety protocols and maintain high standards of quality control.
  • Mentor junior scientists and technicians, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.

Required Skills

  • Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of post-graduate experience in materials research and development (academic or industrial).
  • Proven expertise in a range of materials characterization techniques (e.g., SEM, TEM, XRD, Spectroscopy).
  • Strong understanding of material structure-property relationships.
  • Proficiency in data analysis software and scientific computing tools (e.g., MATLAB, Python, Origin).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with specific material classes such as polymers, composites, ceramics, or advanced alloys.
  • Familiarity with materials modeling and simulation software (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL, LAMMPS).
  • Knowledge of industrial manufacturing processes and material scale-up challenges.
  • Prior experience in patent application processes or publishing scientific articles.
  • Proficiency in German language (B2 level or higher).
