Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Freight Forwarder specializing in International Shipping & Documentation to join our dedicated team in Kiveton Park, Sheffield. This pivotal role involves orchestrating the seamless movement of goods across global supply chains, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and client satisfaction. You will be instrumental in managing the end-to-end import and export processes, from initial inquiry to final delivery, for a diverse portfolio of clients.

As a Freight Forwarder, you will be the central point of contact for clients, carriers, and customs authorities, navigating the complexities of international trade regulations and documentation. Your responsibilities will span across sea, air, and road freight, requiring meticulous attention to detail in preparing customs declarations, bills of lading, airway bills, and other essential shipping documents. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end international freight forwarding operations for sea, air, and road shipments.
  • Prepare, process, and manage all necessary shipping documentation, including Bills of Lading, Air Waybills, customs declarations, and certificates of origin.
  • Liaise directly with clients to understand their shipping requirements, provide quotes, and offer expert advice on trade regulations, customs procedures, and transit times.
  • Negotiate rates with carriers, airlines, and shipping lines to secure optimal pricing and service levels.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all international trade regulations, customs laws, and company policies.
  • Track and trace shipments, providing regular updates to clients and resolving any issues or delays proactively.
  • Coordinate with customs brokers for timely and accurate customs clearance.
  • Handle queries, resolve disputes, and manage unforeseen challenges such as cargo damage, loss, or rerouting.
  • Maintain accurate records and databases of all shipping activities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including sales and operations, to ensure smooth service delivery.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 2-3 years of proven experience as a Freight Forwarder, specifically in international shipping.
  • In-depth knowledge of international trade terms (Incoterms), customs procedures, and documentation for both import and export.
  • Proficiency in freight forwarding software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of UK customs regulations and Brexit implications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant professional qualification or certification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or International Trade.
  • Experience with specific customs declaration systems (e.g., CHIEF/CDS).
  • Multilingual abilities (e.g., German, French, Spanish) are a plus.
  • Previous experience working with a diverse range of commodities and industries.
