You will be responsible for a comprehensive range of duties that directly impact our client satisfaction and business performance. Your day will involve meticulously tracking incoming and outgoing goods, verifying quantities against purchase orders and dispatch notes, and diligently updating our inventory management system. This includes managing goods receipt, ensuring correct labelling and storage, and overseeing the picking and packing processes. You’ll play a crucial role in preventing discrepancies, identifying potential stock issues through regular audits and cycle counts, and collaborating with various departments—from sales to procurement—to resolve them swiftly. Key Responsibilities
- Manage incoming stock, verifying against purchase orders and ensuring accurate data entry into the inventory system.
- Oversee outgoing product dispatch, ensuring correct items, quantities, and complete documentation for shipment.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and comprehensive stock audits to maintain and verify inventory accuracy.
- Identify and investigate stock discrepancies, root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.
- Optimise warehouse storage layout and product placement for maximum efficiency and accessibility.
- Operate and maintain proficiency in the chosen inventory management software (WMS) to track all stock movements.
- Liaise effectively with suppliers, transport companies, and various internal departments (e.g., sales, procurement).
- Prepare all necessary shipping documentation, labels, and customs forms accurately and promptly.
- Ensure strict compliance with all health and safety regulations and company policies within the warehouse environment.
- Actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for inventory processes and warehouse operations.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 2 years) in a stock control, inventory management, or warehouse operations role.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with an ability to interpret data.
- Exceptional attention to detail and unwavering commitment to accuracy.
- Proficiency in using modern inventory management systems (WMS).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as a collaborative team member.
- Strong organisational and time management abilities, capable of prioritising tasks in a fast-paced setting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid forklift license (reach or counterbalance).
- Experience with specific Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
- Knowledge of lean inventory principles or other supply chain methodologies.
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics at grade C/4 or above.
- Previous experience in a high-volume distribution or e-commerce environment.
