Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Dental Assistant to join a dynamic and patient-focused dental practice in Sneinton, Nottingham. This pivotal role involves providing comprehensive support across both surgical procedures and hygiene appointments, ensuring seamless operations and exceptional patient care. Key Responsibilities
- Assist dentists and hygienists during various dental procedures, including surgical extractions, implant placements, restorative work, and hygiene appointments.
- Prepare and maintain clinical environments, ensuring all equipment and instruments are sterilized, set up correctly, and ready for use.
- Provide chairside assistance, anticipating the needs of the clinician and ensuring patient comfort throughout their visit.
- Manage and maintain accurate patient records, including dental charts, appointment scheduling, and treatment plans.
- Process and develop X-rays as required, adhering to radiation safety guidelines.
- Ensure strict adherence to cross-infection control protocols and CQC regulations at all times.
- Educate patients on post-operative care, oral hygiene techniques, and general dental health.
- Manage dental stock and supplies, ensuring adequate levels are maintained and orders are placed efficiently.
- Undertake general administrative tasks as necessary to support the efficient running of the practice.
- Support the reception team with patient enquiries and scheduling when required.
Required Skills
- Qualified Dental Nurse certification (GDC registered in the UK)
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Dental Assistant in a clinical setting
- Proficiency in assisting with minor oral surgery and restorative procedures
- Excellent knowledge of cross-infection control procedures and CQC standards
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently
- Proficiency with dental software (e.g., Dentally, SOE, Exact)
- A empathetic and patient-focused approach
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with specialist dental treatments such as implants or orthodontics
- Radiography qualification
- First Aid certification
- Additional training in sedation assistance or oral health education
