As an SEN Lead Assistant, you will work closely with students, teachers, and other support staff, providing tailored assistance both individually and within small groups. Your expertise will be vital in adapting learning materials, implementing personalised education plans (PEPs), and monitoring student progress. We are looking for someone who can not only offer academic support but also foster social and emotional development, building strong rapport with students and guiding them towards greater independence and self-confidence.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct one-on-one or small group support to students with Special Educational Needs.
- Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Personalised Education Plans (PEPs).
- Adapt learning materials and activities to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Monitor and record student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents.
- Support students' social, emotional, and behavioural development, promoting positive interactions.
- Assist with classroom management and maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment.
- Facilitate communication between students, teachers, parents, and external professionals.
- Organise and prepare specialised resources and learning aids.
- Administer personal care as required, respecting student dignity and privacy.
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
Required Skills
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies
- Flexibility to adapt to varying student needs and schedules
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Support Teaching and Learning, or equivalent
- First Aid certification
- Experience with specific SEN conditions (e.g., Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, dyslexia)
- Knowledge of various communication strategies (e.g., PECS, Makaton)
- Proven experience in a 'Lead' or supervisory assistant role
