Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a small team of care assistants during weekend shifts.
  • Oversee the implementation of individualised care plans, ensuring client dignity and well-being.
  • Provide direct personal care, medication administration, and mobility support as needed.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for clients, families, and external professionals during weekends.
  • Assist with care plan reviews and updates, reporting any changes in client condition.
  • Mentor and support new care staff, facilitating their integration and professional development.
  • Manage and coordinate weekend schedules and rotas to ensure adequate staffing levels.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records and documentation.
  • Respond effectively to emergencies or challenging situations, demonstrating sound judgment.
  • Promote a positive and respectful environment for both clients and staff.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 18 months experience in a care setting (e.g., residential, home care, nursing home).
  • Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role within care.
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in medication administration and record-keeping.
  • A compassionate and empathetic approach to care.

Preferred Qualifications

  • First Aid and Basic Life Support certification.
  • Experience with complex care needs.
  • Driving license and access to own vehicle (due to nature of some care roles).
  • Experience using digital care planning systems.
