Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and motivated Cold Room Warehouse Assistant to join our dedicated logistics team in Mazizini, Zanzibar City. This full-time, on-site role is critical to maintaining the freshness and integrity of our dairy products, ensuring they are stored correctly before reaching our customers. As a Cold Room Warehouse Assistant, you will be at the heart of our operations, responsible for the meticulous handling, storage, and dispatch of temperature-sensitive goods within our state-of-the-art cold storage facilities. This position requires someone who is not only physically capable but also possesses a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of inventory management, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and safety. You will play a vital role in our supply chain, directly impacting our ability to deliver fresh, safe, and delicious dairy products to our consumers.
Your daily activities will involve receiving incoming shipments of raw materials and finished products, accurately logging them into our inventory system, and organizing them efficiently within the cold room. You will be responsible for picking and preparing orders for distribution, ensuring that products are packed securely and loaded onto delivery vehicles in a timely manner. Adherence to strict temperature control protocols is paramount, and you will be tasked with regular monitoring of cold room temperatures and reporting any anomalies. Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe working environment is also a key aspect of this role, including regular cleaning of cold storage areas and equipment. Key Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, and accurately store incoming dairy products and raw materials in the cold room.
- Efficiently pick and pack orders according to dispatch schedules, ensuring correct product count and quality.
- Operate pallet jacks or forklifts (if certified) safely to move and stack products within the warehouse.
- Monitor and record cold room temperatures regularly, reporting any deviations immediately.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment in the cold storage area.
- Conduct regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies with records.
- Assist with loading and unloading delivery vehicles, ensuring proper handling of goods.
- Adhere strictly to food safety, hygiene, and company standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Required Skills
- Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy items (up to 25kg) and work in cold environments for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in managing inventory.
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills for record-keeping.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Reliability and a strong work ethic.
- Understanding of basic health and safety protocols.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (at least 6 months) in a warehouse, logistics, or cold storage environment.
