Job Description
Career.zycto is actively seeking a highly motivated and experienced Safety Officer to join our dynamic team in Tempelhof, Berlin. In this critical full-time role, you will be instrumental in ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for all our employees, contractors, and visitors. As a Safety Officer, you will be the cornerstone of our occupational health and safety (OHS) management system, responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring safety policies and procedures that comply with both German national regulations and international best practices.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive occupational health and safety programs and procedures.
- Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Ensure strict adherence to local (e.g., Arbeitsschutzgesetz), national (German H&S laws), and international H&S regulations and standards (e.g., ISO 45001).
- Investigate all accidents, incidents, and near-misses, preparing detailed reports, identifying root causes, and recommending corrective and preventive actions.
- Organize, develop, and deliver engaging safety training programs for employees at all levels, promoting safety awareness and best practices.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of safety inspections, incident reports, training sessions, and safety-related documentation.
- Advise management on safety-related issues, regulatory changes, and opportunities for continuous improvement in OHS performance.
- Promote and embed a strong, proactive safety culture throughout the organization.
- Collaborate with external regulatory bodies during audits and inspections, ensuring all requirements are met.
- Oversee the proper selection, use, maintenance, and disposal of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of proven experience as a Safety Officer, H&S Manager, or similar role.
- In-depth knowledge and practical application of German occupational health and safety legislation (e.g., Arbeitsschutzgesetz, DGUV Regulations).
- Proficiency in conducting thorough risk assessments, hazard identification, and incident investigations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both German and English.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver effective safety training programs.
- Relevant safety certifications (e.g., Fachkraft für Arbeitssicherheit – FaSi, NEBOSH General Certificate, or equivalent).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience within the industrial, manufacturing, or construction sectors.
- Knowledge of environmental protection regulations and practices.
- First Aid certification.
