As a Learning Support Lead Supervisor, you will be at the forefront of our student support services, orchestrating a seamless and effective system for identifying needs, implementing interventions, and monitoring progress. You will supervise a team of learning support assistants, providing them with leadership, mentorship, and continuous professional development opportunities. Key Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of Learning Support Assistants (LSAs), ensuring high standards of practice and professional development.
- Oversee the assessment of learner needs and the development, implementation, and review of individualised learning support plans (ILSPs).
- Coordinate the allocation of learning support resources, including LSA deployment, to effectively meet student requirements.
- Collaborate closely with teaching staff to integrate support strategies into classroom practice and curriculum delivery.
- Act as a key point of contact for parents/guardians regarding learning support provisions and student progress.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of student support, progress, and outcomes, adhering to data protection guidelines.
- Facilitate regular team meetings, training sessions, and performance reviews for LSAs.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safeguarding, health and safety, and educational legislation, particularly relating to SEND.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of learning support services through feedback, research, and best practice implementation.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in an educational support role, ideally with supervisory responsibilities.
- Strong understanding of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and relevant legislation.
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities, with a passion for developing others.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Highly organised with strong administrative and record-keeping capabilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including staff, students, and parents.
- Proficiency in using standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- A compassionate and patient approach to supporting learners with varying needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant qualification in Education, SEND, or a related field (e.g., Level 3 or above Teaching Assistant qualification).
- Experience in an educational setting such as a college, school, or training provider.
- Knowledge of local educational support services and external agencies in Nottinghamshire.
- First Aid qualification.
