Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Procurement Officer to join our growing team in Pontcanna, Cardiff. This pivotal role is central to the efficient and effective operation of our supply chain, ensuring we secure the best value for our goods and services while maintaining the highest quality standards. In this role, you will be responsible for the entire procurement lifecycle, from identifying needs and sourcing suppliers to contract negotiation and performance monitoring. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain effective procurement strategies and policies.
- Manage the end-to-end procurement process, including sourcing, tendering, evaluation, negotiation, and contract finalization.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors, ensuring adherence to contractual agreements and performance standards.
- Conduct comprehensive market research and analysis to identify new suppliers, products, and services, as well as cost-saving opportunities.
- Negotiate favorable terms, conditions, and pricing with suppliers to achieve optimal value and quality.
- Ensure compliance with all internal procurement policies, ethical guidelines, and relevant external regulations.
- Monitor supplier performance, manage risks, and resolve any issues promptly and effectively.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their procurement needs and provide expert advice and support.
- Process purchase orders accurately and efficiently using the company's procurement systems.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement and supply chain functions.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Procurement Officer or in a similar supply chain role (minimum 4 years).
- Demonstrable strong negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in procurement software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Solid understanding of supply chain management principles and best practices.
- High level of organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) qualification or working towards it.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
- Experience with specific procurement platforms (e.g., SAP Ariba, Oracle Cloud Procurement).
- Knowledge of local and international trade regulations and compliance requirements.
