Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive diagnostic assessments and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment failures.
- Perform scheduled preventative and predictive maintenance on a wide range of plant machinery and systems.
- Execute complex repairs, overhauls, and installations of mechanical components, ensuring adherence to engineering standards and safety protocols.
- Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives for mechanical systems, focusing on reliability, efficiency, and cost reduction.
- Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical manuals to facilitate maintenance and repair activities.
- Manage spare parts inventory for critical mechanical assets and liaise with suppliers for procurement.
- Provide technical expertise and support to operational staff on mechanical issues.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Document all maintenance and repair work accurately, maintaining detailed records for asset history.
- Participate in root cause analysis for significant equipment failures and develop corrective actions.
Required Skills
- Proven expertise in mechanical fault finding and diagnostics on industrial plant equipment.
- Strong practical experience with pumps, valves, rotating machinery, conveyors, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting P&IDs, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
- Excellent understanding of preventative and predictive maintenance methodologies (e.g., vibration analysis, thermography).
- Solid knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations pertaining to mechanical operations.
- Competence in using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective team collaboration.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.
- Experience in a heavy industrial, manufacturing, or process plant environment.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles in a maintenance context.
- Valid confined space entry and working at height certifications.
- Experience with specific industry standards relevant to the plant operations (e.g., API, ASME).
