Job Description

We are seeking a meticulous and tech-savvy Shipping Barcode Technician to join our bustling logistics team in Independence City, Portmore. In this vital role, you will be the cornerstone of our outbound shipping operations, primarily responsible for the accurate generation, application, and verification of barcodes for all outgoing shipments. Your precision ensures that every product is correctly identified, tracked, and dispatched, minimizing errors and optimizing delivery efficiency. This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively within a fast-paced warehouse environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Generate and print accurate shipping labels and barcodes for all outgoing products using specialized software and hardware.
  • Precisely apply barcodes to packages, pallets, and containers, ensuring correct placement and readability.
  • Utilize barcode scanners and warehouse management systems (WMS) to verify shipment contents against order details.
  • Conduct quality checks on barcodes and shipping documentation to prevent discrepancies and errors.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to barcode scanning, printing, or system data inaccuracies.
  • Maintain an organized and clean work area, ensuring all equipment is in good working order.
  • Collaborate with warehouse staff, inventory control, and shipping supervisors to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Assist in the loading and unloading process as needed, ensuring proper handling of goods.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in using barcode scanners and label printing equipment.
  • Basic computer literacy, including experience with data entry and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 lbs, and move materials as required.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Problem-solving aptitude for technical and logistical challenges.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (CXC/GCE O'Levels).
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a warehouse, logistics, or shipping role.
  • Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or inventory software.
  • Previous experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
  • Certification in logistics, supply chain management, or a related technical field.
