Career.zycto is proud to represent a distinguished healthcare facility in Clydebank, Glasgow, seeking a dedicated and experienced Palliative Care Supervisor Lead for their night shift operations. This pivotal role requires a compassionate and highly skilled professional to oversee and manage the delivery of exceptional palliative care during critical overnight hours. You will be instrumental in ensuring patients receive the highest standard of comfort, dignity, and support, as well as providing strong leadership and guidance to a multidisciplinary team.

As the Palliative Care Supervisor Lead, you will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of patient care, managing staffing, and addressing any urgent needs that arise during your shift. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership and supervision to the night shift palliative care team, ensuring adherence to best practices and regulatory standards.
  • Oversee the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualised palliative care plans.
  • Manage and coordinate staffing levels and rotas to ensure adequate coverage and skill mix during the night shift.
  • Act as a point of escalation for complex patient care issues, providing expert advice and intervention as required.
  • Support and mentor junior staff, promoting continuous professional development and a positive working environment.
  • Ensure effective communication channels are maintained with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Manage admissions, discharges, and transfers during the night shift, ensuring smooth transitions of care.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records in compliance with data protection and clinical governance.
  • Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and service development planning.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring patient safety and adherence to protocols.
  • Respond effectively to emergencies, demonstrating sound clinical judgment and leadership.

Required Skills

  • Registered Nurse (RN) qualification with current NMC registration.
  • Proven experience in palliative care or end-of-life care settings.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role within healthcare.
  • In-depth knowledge of palliative care principles, pain management, and symptom control.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and make critical decisions under pressure.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities.
  • Proficiency in clinical documentation and IT systems.
  • Commitment to patient-centred care and upholding dignity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-registration qualification in Palliative Care or a related field.
  • Experience working night shifts in a supervisory capacity.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development in leadership and palliative care.
  • Familiarity with Scottish healthcare regulations and CQC/HIS standards.
  • Experience in training and developing healthcare staff.
