Key Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces for painting, including cleaning, sanding, patching, and priming, to ensure optimal adhesion and finish.
- Apply paint, varnish, stain, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.
- Mix and match paints to achieve desired colors and textures, ensuring consistency across projects.
- Erect scaffolding, ladders, and other safety equipment as required, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
- Inspect finished surfaces for quality, ensuring smooth textures, even coats, and absence of drips or streaks.
- Perform touch-ups and repairs to painted surfaces as needed during maintenance cycles.
- Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are clean, well-maintained, and in safe working order.
- Estimate material requirements and coordinate with project managers to ensure timely procurement.
- Work collaboratively with other tradespeople and project teams to ensure seamless project execution.
- Adhere to project timelines and budget constraints, communicating any potential delays or issues promptly.
- Protect surrounding areas and non-painted surfaces from paint splatter and damage.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Painter in construction finishing and maintenance.
- Proficiency in surface preparation techniques (scraping, sanding, caulking, patching).
- Expertise in applying various types of paint, stains, and varnishes.
- Skilled in the use of brushes, rollers, and spray painting equipment.
- Strong understanding of color theory and mixing.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality finishes.
- Good physical condition and stamina to perform manual tasks.
- Valid UK driving license preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Painting and Decorating.
- CSCS card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme).
- Experience working on commercial and residential projects in City Centre Cardiff.
- Familiarity with various painting systems and eco-friendly products.
- First Aid certification.
