Job Description
Career.zycto is excited to partner with a reputable architectural practice in Splott, Cardiff, to find a talented and passionate Architect – Building Design & Planning. This full-time, on-site role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects, ranging from residential developments and commercial spaces to community-focused infrastructure within the vibrant Cardiff area. We are looking for an individual with a strong foundation in architectural principles, an innovative design approach, and a proven track record of bringing complex projects from concept to completion.
As an Architect, you will be instrumental in all project phases, from initial client consultations and feasibility studies to detailed design, planning application submissions, and on-site supervision. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including urban planners, structural engineers, and contractors, ensuring design integrity and adherence to regulatory standards. This position demands not only exceptional design skills but also a keen understanding of local planning policies, building regulations, and sustainable design practices. The successful candidate will be a proactive problem-solver, an excellent communicator, and possess the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively while maintaining high standards of design quality. You’ll be a key player in shaping the future of Splott and wider Cardiff, making a tangible impact on the built environment through thoughtful and innovative design solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage architectural projects from conceptual design through to construction administration, ensuring quality and adherence to timelines.
- Develop detailed architectural drawings, specifications, and reports using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and other relevant design tools.
- Prepare and submit planning applications, building regulation submissions, and other regulatory documentation.
- Conduct site visits, inspections, and surveys to monitor progress and ensure compliance with design specifications and building codes.
- Collaborate effectively with clients, contractors, consultants, and local authorities to facilitate project success.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to a collaborative and knowledge-sharing team environment.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, new materials, and sustainable design practices to continuously improve project outcomes.
Required Skills
- RIBA Part 3 qualification or equivalent ARB registration
- Proven experience in building design and planning within the UK
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit
- Strong understanding of UK building regulations, planning policy, and construction methods
- Excellent communication, presentation, and client-facing skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with sustainable design principles and BREEAM assessments
- Proficiency in 3D rendering software (e.g., SketchUp, Enscape, Lumion)
- Previous experience working on projects within the Cardiff or South Wales region
- Project management certification (e.g., PRINCE2)
