Key Responsibilities

  • Support and guide a team of Health Care Assistants (HCAs) in their daily duties, fostering a positive and collaborative working environment.
  • Assist in the coordination and scheduling of HCA shifts and client visits to ensure optimal coverage and continuity of care.
  • Monitor the quality of care provided by HCAs, ensuring adherence to care plans, company policies, and CQC standards (with training).
  • Participate in the onboarding and initial training of new HCAs, sharing best practices and promoting a culture of excellence.
  • Serve as a first point of contact for HCAs regarding day-to-day operational queries and escalate complex issues to senior management.
  • Contribute to the development and review of individualised care plans, ensuring they are person-centred and responsive to client needs.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate client records and documentation, ensuring confidentiality and compliance.
  • Promote effective communication within the care team and with clients/their families, ensuring a consistent approach to care.
  • Identify areas for improvement in care delivery and team performance, actively participating in solutions-focused discussions.
  • Ensure all health and safety guidelines are strictly followed, promoting a safe environment for both clients and staff.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Health Care Assistant (HCA).
  • Strong understanding of person-centred care principles.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively within a team and independently.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
  • Previous experience in a senior HCA or mentorship role.
  • Familiarity with CQC regulations and compliance standards.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Manual handling training.
