This essential role as Airport Ground Staff, specializing in Boarding & Baggage Handling, forms the backbone of efficient airport operations, ensuring every flight departs and arrives smoothly and safely. On the airside, you will be responsible for marshalling aircraft to their designated stands using clear hand signals and advanced communication systems, ensuring safe and accurate positioning. A significant part of your role will involve the expert management of luggage, cargo, and mail – from the meticulous sorting and loading onto aircraft to the swift and careful unloading upon arrival. This requires operating a range of essential ground support equipment, including baggage tugs, cargo loaders, and pushback tractors, all while strictly adhering to rigorous operational and safety procedures.
Beyond the tarmac, your contributions extend to enhancing the passenger experience. Key Responsibilities
- Marshal aircraft to and from parking stands using appropriate hand signals and communication systems.
- Safely load and unload passenger baggage, cargo, and mail according to established procedures.
- Operate various ground support equipment (GSE) such as baggage tugs, belt loaders, cargo loaders, and pushback tractors.
- Conduct pre-departure aircraft checks, including security sweeps and general servicing.
- Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking, verifying boarding passes and providing directions as needed.
- Communicate effectively with flight crews, control tower personnel, and other ground staff.
- Adhere strictly to all aviation safety, security, and operational regulations and procedures.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, incidents, or safety concerns promptly.
Required Skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced outdoor environment, sometimes under adverse weather conditions.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) repeatedly.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
