Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Site Foreman with a strong focus on labour management and site safety to join our dynamic team in Carrickfergus, Belfast. As a Site Foreman, you will be instrumental in overseeing daily site operations, ensuring projects are completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards. This pivotal role requires an individual who can expertly coordinate labour, manage subcontractors, enforce stringent health and safety protocols, and maintain clear communication across all project stakeholders. You will be the frontline leader, responsible for driving productivity, resolving on-site challenges, and fostering a positive and productive work environment. Your expertise in managing diverse teams and upholding rigorous safety standards will be critical to our continued success and reputation for excellence in the construction industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise on-site construction activities from planning to completion, ensuring adherence to project timelines and specifications.
  • Effectively lead and motivate a team of skilled and unskilled labour, fostering a productive and collaborative work environment.
  • Implement and enforce all health and safety regulations, policies, and procedures, conducting regular site inspections and risk assessments.
  • Oversee the quality of work, ensuring all tasks are performed to the highest standards and in compliance with project plans and industry regulations.
  • Coordinate with project managers, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth workflow and timely delivery of materials.
  • Monitor project progress, report on daily activities, and identify potential delays or issues, proposing effective solutions.
  • Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings to ensure all personnel are aware of site hazards and safe working practices.
  • Manage site resources, including equipment, materials, and personnel, to optimise efficiency and minimise waste.
  • Train and mentor junior staff, promoting skill development and best practices on site.
  • Maintain accurate site records, including daily logs, incident reports, and progress updates.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Site Foreman or similar supervisory role in construction.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and health & safety regulations (e.g., SMSTS or SSSTS certification).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Proficiency in labour management, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills under pressure.
  • Valid First Aid certification (desirable but can be obtained).
  • Full UK driving license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 or higher in Construction Site Supervision or a related field.
  • Experience with various types of construction projects (e.g., commercial, residential, infrastructure).
  • Proficiency in basic construction software or project management tools.
  • Additional health and safety qualifications (e.g., NEBOSH certificate).
