Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately dispense prescription and over-the-counter medications, ensuring patient safety and compliance.
  • Provide expert counsel on medication use, side effects, and adherence to patients, fostering strong patient relationships.
  • Conduct thorough medication reviews (e.g., Medicines Use Reviews – MURs, New Medicine Service – NMS) and offer personalized health advice.
  • Support and participate in the delivery of various enhanced pharmacy services, including vaccinations, health screenings, and minor ailment schemes.
  • Manage pharmacy stock levels, ensure proper storage, and oversee controlled drugs in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals, including GPs and nurses, to optimize patient care pathways and outcomes.
  • Mentor and supervise pharmacy support staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and high performance within the team.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure strict adherence to all legal, ethical, and professional guidelines set by the PSNI.
  • Actively engage in health promotion initiatives and public health campaigns within the Lisburn community to improve public health.

Required Skills

  • Bachelors or Masters of Pharmacy degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current and valid registration with the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland (PSNI).
  • Minimum of 2 years post-registration experience as a Pharmacist, ideally with exposure to both retail and clinical settings.
  • Demonstrable expertise in medication dispensing, patient counseling, and pharmaceutical care.
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical legislation, ethics, and professional standards in the UK.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse patient groups and healthcare colleagues.
  • Proficiency in pharmacy management software and general IT systems.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and lifelong learning.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Independent Prescribing qualification or working towards it.
  • Experience with advanced clinical pharmacy services (e.g., chronic disease management clinics, ward-based pharmacy).
  • Accreditation for specific enhanced services (e.g., vaccination, NMS, MURs).
  • Prior experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a pharmacy setting.
  • Additional language proficiency to support our diverse community.
