Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic Cloud Engineer with a strong focus on AWS, Azure, and traditional server deployment to join our innovative team in Leeds. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and managing scalable and secure cloud infrastructure that supports our diverse client base. You will work across multi-cloud environments, ensuring optimal performance, cost efficiency, and robust security posture. You will contribute to the entire lifecycle of our cloud services, from initial design and architecture to deployment, monitoring, and ongoing optimization, playing a key role in shaping our technical landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable, highly available, and secure cloud infrastructure on AWS and Azure platforms.
  • Manage and deploy traditional on-premises server environments, including virtualisation, operating systems, and networking components.
  • Develop and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation for automated deployments and configuration management.
  • Monitor cloud and server infrastructure for performance, availability, and security, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
  • Collaborate with development and operations teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment of applications.
  • Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines to streamline software delivery and infrastructure updates.
  • Ensure compliance with security best practices and regulatory requirements across all managed environments.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to provide support for critical infrastructure incidents.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and team members.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, RDS, Lambda, EKS/ECS)
  • Strong hands-on experience with Azure services (Virtual Machines, VNet, Azure AD, Azure SQL, Azure Kubernetes Service)
  • Expertise in server deployment and management, including Linux and Windows operating systems
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, Firewalls)
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps)
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork capabilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate/Professional or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or Azure DevOps Engineer Expert
  • Experience with containerisation technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
  • Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack)
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef
