Job Description

Standard Bank Mozambique is seeking a dedicated and proactive Onboarding Assistant to join our dynamic Human Resources team in Xai-Xai. Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and prepare all pre-onboarding documentation and communications for new hires.
  • Manage the collection, verification, and accurate filing of new employee paperwork, ensuring full compliance with company policies and local labour regulations.
  • Schedule and facilitate engaging new hire orientation sessions, both virtually and in-person, to introduce company culture and policies.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for new employees, proactively addressing their queries and providing necessary support during their initial weeks.
  • Collaborate closely with IT, Facilities, and relevant department managers to ensure new hires have all necessary equipment, system access, and a fully prepared workspace on their first day.
  • Maintain and regularly update onboarding materials, employee handbooks, and comprehensive checklists to reflect current policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Assist in tracking onboarding progress, gather valuable feedback, and analyse data to continuously improve the new hire experience.
  • Support general HR administrative tasks as needed, including meticulous data entry, record maintenance, and report generation.
  • Foster a consistently positive, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all new joiners, embodying our company values.

Required Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Portuguese and English.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities with keen attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with the utmost discretion and integrity.
  • A positive, proactive, and genuinely customer-service-oriented attitude.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
  • 1-2 years of proven experience in an administrative support role, preferably within a Human Resources department or similar client-facing environment.
  • Familiarity with HR information systems (HRIS) and applicant tracking systems (ATS).
  • A foundational understanding of basic labour laws and regulations pertinent to Mozambique.
