Naivas Supermarket is seeking a dedicated and meticulous Cash Office Assistant to join our dynamic team, specifically supporting our operations within the Kenyatta University, Nairobi region. The Cash Office Assistant will be responsible for the accurate handling, reconciliation, and reporting of all cash transactions, ensuring strict adherence to company policies and financial regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Manage and reconcile daily cash, cheque, and card transactions from point-of-sale systems.
- Prepare daily cash banking and ensure timely deposit of funds.
- Investigate and resolve any discrepancies in cash counts and sales reports.
- Maintain accurate records of all cash office activities and transactions.
- Process petty cash requests and reconcile petty cash floats.
- Generate daily, weekly, and monthly cash flow reports for management review.
- Ensure strict compliance with all company cash handling procedures and security protocols.
- Collaborate with store management and finance department to address any issues or improvements.
- Assist in the preparation for internal and external audits.
- Provide support for front-end operations, including till reconciliation and float management.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in cash handling and reconciliation, preferably in a retail setting.
- Exceptional numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in basic accounting software and MS Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High level of integrity and trustworthiness.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Previous experience working in a supermarket or large retail environment.
- Knowledge of point-of-sale (POS) systems.
