Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and passionate Carpenter with a keen eye for detail and a dedication to superior craftsmanship, specializing in woodwork and furniture, to join our dynamic team in Cardiff, Wales. You will be instrumental in creating bespoke furniture pieces, fitting intricate wooden structures, and carrying out high-quality interior and exterior carpentry work for a diverse range of projects.

You will be responsible for interpreting complex technical drawings and blueprints, translating them into tangible, beautiful wooden elements. Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements.
  • Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wood, laminates, and other materials using hand tools and power tools.
  • Construct, install, and repair fixtures, such as cabinets, counters, and shelves.
  • Erect, level, and install framework, doors, windows, and other wooden structures.
  • Fabricate and repair custom furniture, ensuring high standards of finish and durability.
  • Inspect and replace damaged framework or other structures and fixtures.
  • Collaborate with designers, project managers, and other tradespersons to ensure project completion.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
  • Perform quality checks on all completed work to ensure accuracy and adherence to specifications.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Carpenter, specializing in woodwork and furniture.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Expertise in operating hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
  • Strong knowledge of various wood types, joinery techniques, and construction methods.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality craftsmanship.
  • Good physical stamina and manual dexterity.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Understanding of relevant safety standards and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Carpentry and Joinery or equivalent qualification.
  • A portfolio showcasing previous woodwork and furniture projects.
  • Experience with bespoke furniture design and construction.
  • Valid UK driving license.
