Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements.
- Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wood, laminates, and other materials using hand tools and power tools.
- Construct, install, and repair fixtures, such as cabinets, counters, and shelves.
- Erect, level, and install framework, doors, windows, and other wooden structures.
- Fabricate and repair custom furniture, ensuring high standards of finish and durability.
- Inspect and replace damaged framework or other structures and fixtures.
- Collaborate with designers, project managers, and other tradespersons to ensure project completion.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
- Perform quality checks on all completed work to ensure accuracy and adherence to specifications.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Carpenter, specializing in woodwork and furniture.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.
- Expertise in operating hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Strong knowledge of various wood types, joinery techniques, and construction methods.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality craftsmanship.
- Good physical stamina and manual dexterity.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Understanding of relevant safety standards and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Carpentry and Joinery or equivalent qualification.
- A portfolio showcasing previous woodwork and furniture projects.
- Experience with bespoke furniture design and construction.
- Valid UK driving license.
