Job Description
Bay View Auto Parts & Services is actively seeking an experienced and dedicated Mechanic to join our dynamic team in St. Ann’s Bay. This is a crucial garage-based role for an individual who is passionate about vehicle repair, possesses a keen eye for detail, and is committed to delivering top-tier service. As a Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a diverse range of vehicles, from passenger cars to light commercial vehicles, ensuring they operate safely and efficiently. Your day-to-day will involve hands-on work in our well-equipped workshop, utilizing advanced diagnostic equipment to pinpoint issues, performing intricate mechanical and electrical repairs, and conducting routine servicing according to manufacturer specifications.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive vehicle diagnostics using specialized tools and equipment to identify mechanical and electrical faults.
- Execute repairs and replacements of various automotive components, including engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension, and electrical systems.
- Conduct routine maintenance services, such as oil changes, tire rotations, filter replacements, and fluid checks, in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.
- Inspect vehicles thoroughly to identify potential issues and recommend necessary preventative maintenance or repairs.
- Document all services performed, parts used, and diagnostics results accurately and efficiently.
- Communicate effectively with service advisors regarding vehicle status, repair recommendations, and estimated timelines.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to all safety protocols and regulations.
- Continuously update technical knowledge by participating in training programs and staying current with automotive industry advancements.
- Assist in ordering parts and managing inventory as needed.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a vehicle mechanic in a garage setting.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills for mechanical and electrical systems.
- Proficiency in using automotive diagnostic software and equipment.
- In-depth knowledge of vehicle systems, components, and their functionalities.
- Ability to perform precision repairs and installations.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and mechanical aptitude.
- Valid Jamaican driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal certification from an accredited automotive technical institution (e.g., HEART NSTA Trust).
- Experience with various vehicle makes and models, including Japanese, European, and American brands.
- ASE certification or equivalent recognized industry certifications.
- Experience with advanced automotive technologies (e.g., hybrid vehicles, complex electronic systems).
- Customer service experience in an automotive context.
