Career.zycto is excited to partner with a reputable early learning institution in Tana River County, Kenya, seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Nursery Teacher. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for creating a stimulating, safe, and inclusive learning environment that fosters curiosity, social-emotional growth, and cognitive development. You will design and implement age-appropriate activities and lesson plans that align with the Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) curriculum, ensuring a holistic approach to learning. This includes integrating play-based learning, storytelling, arts and crafts, music, and outdoor exploration to engage children actively. Building strong, positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues is paramount. You will regularly communicate with parents about their child’s progress, celebrate milestones, and address any developmental concerns, fostering a collaborative partnership in the child’s educational journey.
Our ideal candidate will demonstrate a deep understanding of child psychology and developmental stages, adapting teaching methods to cater to diverse learning styles and individual needs. You will continuously assess children’s progress, maintain accurate records, and use observations to inform future planning. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement age-appropriate and engaging lesson plans based on the ECDE curriculum.
- Create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive classroom environment conducive to early learning and exploration.
- Foster social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development through play-based activities, stories, songs, and creative arts.
- Observe, assess, and document children's progress, identifying individual learning needs and strengths.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with parents/guardians regarding their child's development, achievements, and any concerns.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hygienic classroom, adhering to health and safety standards.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers and school administration to ensure a cohesive educational experience.
- Attend staff meetings, professional development workshops, and parent-teacher conferences.
- Manage classroom behavior positively, promoting respect, cooperation, and good manners.
- Organize and supervise indoor and outdoor play activities.
Required Skills
- ECDE Certificate or Diploma from a recognized institution
- Proven experience as a Nursery Teacher or in a similar early childhood education role
- Deep understanding of child development theories and age-appropriate pedagogy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially with children and parents
- Creativity and passion for play-based learning
- Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach
- Ability to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment
- Strong organizational and classroom management skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education
- Valid Teachers Service Commission (TSC) registration
- First Aid and CPR certification
- Proficiency in basic computer applications for record-keeping and communication
