Job Description
Wete District Hospital is seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to join our team as a Healthcare Ward Attendant. This is a crucial full-time position where you will play a vital role in ensuring the comfort, safety, and well-being of our patients while supporting our nursing and medical staff. As a Ward Attendant, you are the heart of our ward operations, providing essential non-clinical support that allows our clinical professionals to focus on specialized medical care. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting patients with their daily needs, including personal hygiene, mobility, and feeding. You will help maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment within the ward, which is paramount for infection control and patient recovery. This involves duties such as tidying patient areas, making beds, and ensuring that supplies are readily available. You will be the friendly face that offers encouragement and assistance, helping patients feel more at ease during their stay. Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily personal care activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Help patients with mobility, transferring, and positioning, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Assist patients during meal times, ensuring they receive and consume their meals appropriately.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of patient rooms, beds, and ward common areas.
- Change bed linens, tidy patient belongings, and ensure a hygienic environment.
- Monitor and report any changes in patient condition, behavior, or expressed needs to nursing staff.
- Replenish medical and ward supplies as needed, ensuring adequate stock levels.
- Assist nurses and other medical professionals with non-clinical tasks as directed.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients, contributing to a positive atmosphere.
- Transport patients within the hospital as required, using wheelchairs or stretchers safely.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and infection control protocols.
