Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and experienced Night Care Lead Assistant to join our compassionate team in The Inch, Edinburgh. This crucial role involves leading our night care team, ensuring the highest standards of person-centred care are delivered to our residents throughout the night. As a Night Care Lead Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in creating a safe, comfortable, and supportive environment, maintaining dignity and promoting independence during evening and overnight hours. You will be responsible for overseeing the welfare of residents, providing guidance and support to care assistants, and responding effectively to any nocturnal needs or emergencies. This position requires a proactive individual with strong leadership qualities, excellent communication skills, and a genuine passion for elder care. You will be instrumental in maintaining detailed records, administering medication as required, and ensuring all care plans are meticulously followed. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the night care team, ensuring all care duties are performed to the highest standard.
  • Oversee the well-being of residents during the night, responding promptly and effectively to any needs or emergencies.
  • Administer medication accurately and maintain meticulous records in accordance with company policies and CQC guidelines.
  • Ensure care plans are implemented, reviewed, and updated as necessary, promoting person-centred care.
  • Provide personal care, assistance with mobility, and emotional support to residents, maintaining their dignity and respect.
  • Effectively communicate with day staff through comprehensive handovers, ensuring continuity of care.
  • Undertake regular checks on residents and the care environment to ensure safety and security.
  • Handle and document any incidents or concerns in line with established procedures.
  • Support and mentor junior care assistants, fostering a positive and collaborative team environment.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a care assistant role, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or lead capacity.
  • SVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) or working towards it.
  • Proven experience working night shifts.
  • Strong understanding of person-centred care principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and manage a small team.
  • Proficiency in medication administration and record-keeping.
  • Compassionate, patient, and empathetic approach to care.
  • Ability to remain calm and decisive in emergency situations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • First Aid certification.
  • Experience with electronic care planning systems.
  • Training in specialized care areas (e.g., dementia, palliative care).
  • Full, clean UK driving license.
