Career.zycto is seeking an experienced and compassionate Dementia Care Supervisor Lead for a pivotal night shift role within a reputable care facility situated near the picturesque Calton Hill in Edinburgh. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the night shift care team, ensuring efficient workflow and high standards of care delivery.
- Oversee the implementation of person-centred care plans for residents living with dementia, adapting to individual needs during the night.
- Administer medication accurately and safely in accordance with facility policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Respond effectively to emergency situations, providing immediate support and coordinating with on-call professionals.
- Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to care assistants, fostering a positive and skilled team environment.
- Conduct regular welfare checks on residents throughout the night, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being.
- Maintain accurate and detailed care records, daily logs, and incident reports.
- Communicate effectively with residents, their families, and external healthcare professionals, ensuring continuity of care.
- Monitor and manage stock levels of essential supplies and equipment, reporting any deficiencies.
- Ensure adherence to all health and safety regulations, safeguarding policies, and CQC/Care Inspectorate standards.
Required Skills
- SVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent)
- Demonstrable experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a care setting, specifically with dementia care
- Proven experience working night shifts
- Strong understanding of dementia and person-centred care approaches
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team effectively
- Proficient in medication administration and documentation
- Solid organisational and problem-solving abilities
- Resilience and ability to remain calm under pressure
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 4 in Health and Social Care or equivalent
- Advanced dementia care training/certification
- First Aid certification
- Knowledge of local care regulations and inspection processes (Care Inspectorate Scotland)
