Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Supply Chain Officer to join our dynamic team, specifically supporting our distribution center operations serving the Mathare region and surrounding areas. This pivotal role involves overseeing the efficient flow of goods from warehousing to final delivery, ensuring optimal stock levels, timely dispatch, and meticulous record-keeping. The successful candidate will play a critical role in optimizing our supply chain processes, enhancing operational efficiency, and ensuring customer satisfaction through prompt and accurate order fulfillment. This position requires a proactive individual with a strong understanding of logistics, inventory management, and distribution strategies, capable of working in a fast-paced environment and contributing directly to our operational excellence goals. You will be instrumental in bridging the gap between our central logistics hub and the specific distribution requirements of the Mathare locality, ensuring seamless operations and effective problem-solving while upholding Siginon’s commitment to service quality and operational integrity.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate daily distribution center operations, ensuring efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods to various points within Mathare and beyond.
- Monitor inventory levels, conduct regular stock reconciliations, and implement robust inventory control measures to minimize discrepancies and optimize stock rotation.
- Oversee the scheduling and routing of deliveries, ensuring timely and cost-effective transportation solutions for our clients in the Mathare catchment area.
- Collaborate closely with procurement, warehousing, and transport teams to streamline processes, identify potential bottlenecks, and resolve any supply chain disruptions promptly.
- Prepare comprehensive and accurate reports on distribution performance, inventory status, logistics costs, and key performance indicators (KPIs) for management review.
- Ensure strict compliance with all relevant health, safety, environmental, and quality standards and regulations within the distribution center operations.
- Identify opportunities for continuous process improvements, implement best practices in supply chain and logistics management, and contribute to strategic planning.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in supply chain management, logistics, or distribution center operations.
- Strong understanding of inventory management principles, warehouse operations, and transportation planning.
- Proficiency in supply chain management software and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effective collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and adapt to changing operational demands.
- Demonstrated ability to implement process improvements and drive efficiency in a logistics environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
- Professional certification in Supply Chain Management (e.g., CIPS, CSCP, CPIM) or Project Management.
- Extensive experience working in the Kenyan logistics sector, with specific knowledge of Nairobi's distribution networks and challenges.
- Familiarity with local regulatory requirements, customs procedures, and transportation laws in Kenya.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools, including advanced Excel skills, for reporting and insights.
