Key Responsibilities

  • Assist medical staff (nurses, doctors) with patient intake procedures, including taking vital signs, documenting basic patient information, and preparing patients for examinations or treatments.
  • Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, organization, and readiness for examination rooms, waiting areas, and all other clinic facilities, ensuring a sterile and welcoming environment.
  • Sterilize medical equipment and instruments, and ensure the proper and safe disposal of contaminated materials strictly according to established hygiene protocols and company guidelines.
  • Accurately manage and organize patient medical records, ensuring strict confidentiality and compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Efficiently schedule patient appointments, manage clinic calendars, and coordinate referrals to specialists or external facilities as required.
  • Monitor, order, stock, and maintain inventory of medical supplies, pharmaceuticals, and equipment, ensuring adequate levels are always available.
  • Provide compassionate, respectful, and professional assistance to patients, addressing their non-medical needs, answering general inquiries, and guiding them through clinic processes.
  • Handle various administrative tasks, including answering phones, processing correspondence, filing documents, and accurate data entry into clinic systems.
  • Adhere strictly to all internal health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as external company policies and Mozambican healthcare guidelines.
  • Support and participate in health education initiatives, community outreach programs, and wellness campaigns as directed by the clinic management.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in a customer service or administrative role, with a minimum of 6 months, preferably within a healthcare or medical office setting.
  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • Fluency in Portuguese, both written and spoken, is essential for effective communication within the clinic and with patients.
  • Basic computer literacy, including practical experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating a patient-centric and empathetic approach.
  • Strong organizational skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated reliability, strong work ethic, and punctuality.
  • Fundamental understanding of basic hygiene, sanitation, and infection control principles.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Valid certification in First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
  • Previous experience specifically as a clinic aide, medical assistant, or similar support role in a clinical environment.
  • Familiarity with common medical terminology and basic clinical procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Basic knowledge of local health regulations and public health initiatives in Mozambique.
