Job Description
Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Care Home Night Lead to join our vibrant team in Norton-on-Derwent, Malton. This pivotal role involves overseeing the night shift operations, ensuring the highest standards of care are maintained for our residents, and providing leadership to our night care assistants. As the Night Lead, you will be instrumental in creating a safe, comfortable, and supportive environment during the evening and early morning hours. Your responsibilities will span from direct resident care to effective team management, ensuring all care plans are meticulously followed and any arising issues are promptly and professionally addressed.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the night shift care team, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to policies and procedures.
- Administer medication accurately and safely, maintaining precise records as per company guidelines and CQC regulations.
- Conduct regular resident checks throughout the night, ensuring comfort, safety, and addressing any immediate needs.
- Respond promptly and effectively to any emergencies, incidents, or changes in residents' health conditions.
- Oversee the implementation of individual care plans, ensuring all care is person-centred and dignity is maintained.
- Maintain accurate and detailed care records, daily logs, and handover reports.
- Communicate effectively with day staff, residents' families, and external healthcare professionals as required.
- Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to night care assistants, fostering a positive team environment.
- Ensure the care home environment remains clean, tidy, and safe during the night shift.
- Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Required Skills
- NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a care home setting, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or senior role
- Proven experience in medication administration and management
- Excellent leadership and team management skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to make sound decisions under pressure
- Proficiency in record-keeping and care plan documentation
- First Aid certification
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 4 in Health and Social Care
- Experience with electronic care planning systems
- Training in Dementia Care or Palliative Care
- Knowledge of CQC regulations and best practices
