Job Description

Zanzibar Voluntary Organization (ZAVO) is seeking a dedicated Fundraising Support Agent to join our dynamic team. As a Fundraising Support Agent, you will be instrumental in supporting ZAVO’s fundraising initiatives, helping us secure the resources needed to expand our vital community development programs across Zanzibar. You will work closely with our fundraising and program teams, assisting with donor communication, data management, campaign coordination, and administrative tasks crucial for our operational success. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and execution of fundraising campaigns and events.
  • Manage donor database, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records of all interactions and contributions.
  • Draft and send thank you letters, acknowledgements, and routine donor communications.
  • Provide administrative support to the fundraising team, including scheduling meetings, preparing materials, and managing correspondence.
  • Conduct preliminary research on potential donors, grants, and funding opportunities.
  • Support the preparation of grant applications and funding proposals by compiling necessary documents and information.
  • Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to create engaging content for fundraising appeals.
  • Respond to donor inquiries and provide exceptional service, building strong relationships.
  • Assist with financial record-keeping related to donations and fundraising activities.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for improving fundraising strategies and donor engagement.

Required Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Swahili.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated empathy, discretion, and professionalism in handling sensitive information.
  • Proactive attitude and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic understanding of fundraising principles or a strong willingness to learn.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A diploma or degree in Business Administration, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience with CRM software or donor management systems (e.g., Salesforce, Raiser's Edge).
  • Prior experience in an administrative support role, especially within a non-profit organization.
  • Volunteer experience in community development or humanitarian initiatives.
  • Familiarity with the socio-economic context and cultural nuances of Zanzibar.
