Job Description
Are you a skilled and dedicated electrician seeking a vital role within a dynamic hospitality environment? Tropical Beach Hotel Malindi is looking for an experienced Electrician Maintenance Support to join our dedicated technical team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring the uninterrupted and safe operation of all electrical systems across our expansive property, from guest rooms and public areas to kitchen facilities, plant rooms, and outdoor lighting. This position demands a proactive approach to maintenance, a keen eye for detail in troubleshooting, and a commitment to adhering to the highest safety standards and regulatory requirements. You will play an instrumental part in preventing downtime, responding swiftly to electrical issues, and contributing to the overall comfort and safety of our guests and colleagues. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspection and maintenance of all electrical systems and equipment, including lighting, power outlets, wiring, generators, and HVAC electrical components.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical malfunctions in guest rooms, public areas, kitchen equipment, and back-of-house facilities promptly and efficiently.
- Install, upgrade, and replace electrical wiring, fixtures, and control systems as required, ensuring compliance with local codes and safety standards.
- Conduct preventive maintenance programs to extend the lifespan of electrical assets and minimize operational disruptions.
- Respond to emergency calls for electrical issues across the property at any time, ensuring minimal impact on guest services.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities, including parts used and time spent.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Collaborate with other maintenance team members and departments to ensure integrated and efficient facility operations.
- Assist in the procurement of electrical parts and supplies, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.
- Participate in training and development activities to stay updated with new technologies and best practices in electrical maintenance.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as an Electrician, preferably in a hotel or large commercial facility.
- Valid electrical license or certification recognized in Kenya.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing a wide range of electrical equipment.
- Excellent understanding of safety procedures and regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA, local electrical codes).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.
- Good communication skills in English and Swahili.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Certificate in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience with generator maintenance and automatic transfer switches (ATS).
- Familiarity with building management systems (BMS).
- Prior experience in the hospitality industry.
