Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage civil engineering projects from initiation to completion, ensuring all phases are executed efficiently and effectively.
- Develop detailed project plans, including scope definition, resource allocation, budget management, and timeline adherence.
- Oversee on-site construction activities, ensuring compliance with design specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.
- Conduct feasibility studies, site investigations, and risk assessments for new projects.
- Prepare and review engineering designs, drawings, specifications, and reports.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, and regulatory authorities to ensure smooth project progression.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions.
- Manage project documentation, including permits, contracts, and progress reports.
- Mentor junior engineers and technical staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
- Ensure all projects comply with relevant local and national building codes, environmental regulations, and industry best practices.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of 4 years of proven experience in civil engineering project management, preferably within the Kenyan context.
- Registered Engineer with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK).
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, materials, and quality control processes.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, resources, and timelines effectively.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites within Meru County and surrounding areas.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or Project Management.
- Professional certification such as Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Construction Manager (CCM).
- Experience with road construction, bridge design, or water infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency in engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, SAP2000, ETABS).
- Knowledge of local government regulations and environmental impact assessment procedures.
