Job Description
Progressive Foods Ltd. is seeking a dedicated and experienced Warehouse Supervisor with a strong focus on Inventory Control to join our dynamic team in Port Antonio, Portland. This is a crucial full-time, shift-work position designed for an individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and possesses exceptional organizational and leadership skills. As a Warehouse Supervisor, you will be instrumental in overseeing the daily operations of our warehouse, ensuring optimal inventory accuracy, efficient storage, and timely distribution of goods. Your primary responsibility will be to lead and motivate a team of warehouse associates, fostering a culture of safety, productivity, and accountability during your assigned shifts. This role requires meticulous attention to detail in managing inventory levels, conducting regular cycle counts, investigating discrepancies, and implementing corrective actions to maintain precise stock records. You will be responsible for utilizing our Warehouse Management System (WMS) to track incoming and outgoing shipments, manage stock rotation (FIFO/LIFO), and generate comprehensive inventory reports. Beyond inventory, you will ensure that all warehouse processes, from receiving and put-away to picking and loading, adhere to established company standards and food safety regulations. Your ability to communicate effectively, problem-solve under pressure, and drive continuous improvement initiatives will be key to your success. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead a team of warehouse associates during assigned shifts, ensuring all daily tasks and operational goals are met.
- Oversee all aspects of inventory control, including receiving, put-away, picking, packing, and shipping processes.
- Maintain high levels of inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts, physical inventory audits, and reconciliation of discrepancies.
- Utilize the Warehouse Management System (WMS) to track inventory movements, process orders, and generate detailed reports.
- Implement and enforce FIFO/LIFO principles for stock rotation to minimize waste and ensure product freshness.
- Train new warehouse staff and provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback to the team.
- Ensure strict adherence to all company safety policies, procedures, and food safety standards.
- Monitor warehouse equipment, ensuring it is properly maintained and operated safely.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains within warehouse operations.
- Prepare daily operational reports and communicate critical information to management.
- Coordinate with other departments (e.g., procurement, retail operations) to ensure smooth supply chain flow.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in a warehouse or distribution center environment.
- Proven expertise in inventory control principles and practices.
- Strong proficiency with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and inventory software.
- Excellent leadership, team-building, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, demanding environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Capacity to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required by operational needs.
- Physical ability to lift, carry, and move merchandise, and stand for extended periods.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Forklift certification (Counterbalance and Reach Truck).
- Experience with SAP or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Knowledge of Jamaican food safety regulations and standards.
- First Aid and/or CPR certification.
