Job Description
Anchovy High School is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Laboratory Assistant to join our dynamic science department. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare laboratory materials, equipment, and solutions for practical science lessons and demonstrations across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment, ensuring all equipment and chemicals are stored correctly.
- Assist teachers and students during practical sessions, providing guidance on equipment usage, experimental procedures, and safety protocols.
- Monitor and manage inventory of laboratory chemicals, glassware, and other supplies; initiate reorder requests as necessary to ensure adequate stock levels.
- Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and minor repairs on laboratory equipment and apparatus.
- Ensure strict compliance with health and safety regulations, including proper disposal of chemical and biological waste.
- Document experiments, equipment usage, and safety checks in accordance with school policies.
- Assist with the development and testing of new practical activities and educational resources.
- Provide support for science-related extracurricular activities, projects, and school events.
- Collaborate with teaching staff to optimize laboratory utilization and enhance the overall science curriculum.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or equivalent (CXC/CSEC passes in Science subjects preferred)
- Basic understanding of scientific principles and laboratory practices
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and meticulously
- Commitment to maintaining a safe working and learning environment
- Good verbal communication skills
