Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and meticulous Surveyor specializing in Measurement and Mapping to join our dynamic team in Bambous, Black River District. This pivotal role involves executing precise land surveys, collecting comprehensive spatial data, and translating complex measurements into detailed maps and plans for various engineering and construction projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of surveying principles, advanced proficiency in modern surveying equipment, and the ability to work independently and as part of a project team. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct accurate land surveys, including topographic, boundary, and construction staking surveys, utilizing total stations, GPS/GNSS, and other advanced surveying instruments.
- Collect, process, and analyze spatial data to create detailed maps, charts, and reports for various engineering design and construction phases.
- Interpret legal descriptions, title deeds, and existing survey data to establish property boundaries and rights-of-way.
- Prepare and maintain accurate field notes, sketches, and digital records of all survey activities and measurements.
- Ensure all surveying work adheres to local regulations, industry standards, and project specifications, maintaining high levels of quality control.
- Collaborate closely with civil engineers, project managers, and construction teams to provide necessary survey data and technical support throughout project lifecycles.
- Operate and maintain surveying equipment, ensuring calibration and proper functioning.
- Perform calculations related to surveying tasks, including area, volume, and coordinate transformations.
- Assist in the preparation of survey plats, legal descriptions, and other technical documentation.
- Implement and adhere to all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures on site.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in operating Total Stations, GPS/GNSS receivers, and digital levels.
- Strong knowledge of surveying principles, practices, and calculations.
- Experience with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D) for data processing and map creation.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and legal documents.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Valid Mauritian driving license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Land Surveying, Geomatics, or a related field.
- Membership with a professional surveying body (e.g., Mauritius Institute of Surveyors).
- Experience with drone-based photogrammetry and LiDAR data processing.
- Familiarity with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS).
- Proven experience working on large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of Mauritian land law and planning regulations.
