Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Software Engineer to join our Corporate IT team in Harbour View, Kingston. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement high-quality, scalable software solutions for various corporate IT needs, focusing on reliability and performance.
- Collaborate with business analysts, project managers, and stakeholders to gather requirements, define project scope, and deliver solutions that align with business objectives.
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code following established best practices, coding standards, and architectural guidelines.
- Conduct thorough testing, debugging, and performance tuning of applications to ensure optimal functionality and user experience.
- Participate actively in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and ensuring adherence to design principles and quality standards.
- Provide ongoing maintenance, support, and enhancements for existing corporate IT systems, addressing incidents and implementing improvements.
- Contribute to the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), from conceptualization and design to deployment, monitoring, and post-implementation support.
- Identify and implement automation opportunities to streamline processes, improve operational efficiency, and reduce manual effort.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices to recommend innovative solutions and continuous improvements.
- Ensure all software solutions comply with Digicel's security policies, data privacy regulations, and other relevant compliance standards.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Java, Python, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript)
- Strong understanding of relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL) and experience with NoSQL databases is a plus.
- Experience with front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js) and back-end frameworks (e.g., Spring Boot, .NET Core, Django, Flask)
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
- Solid grasp of software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum) and experience working in cross-functional teams.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills with attention to detail.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration abilities to work effectively with diverse teams.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic, and evolving environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
- Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) or customer relationship management (CRM) systems integration and development.
- Knowledge of telecommunications industry standards, network protocols, cybersecurity principles, and data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
- Relevant certifications in programming languages, cloud platforms, or specific enterprise technologies.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and automated testing frameworks.
