Job Description

Career.zycto is actively seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Farm Supervisor specializing in Crop Production to join our client’s thriving agricultural operation in Loresho, Nairobi. As a Farm Supervisor, you will be instrumental in overseeing all aspects of crop cultivation, from land preparation and planting to harvesting and post-harvest management. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of agronomy, pest and disease management, irrigation systems, and modern farming techniques. You will be responsible for planning and executing daily farm activities, maintaining accurate records, and implementing innovative solutions to improve productivity and resource utilization. Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and supervise daily farm operations related to crop production, including land preparation, planting, irrigation, fertilization, pest control, and harvesting.
  • Manage and motivate a team of farm workers, providing training, guidance, and performance feedback.
  • Monitor crop health, identify signs of pests, diseases, or nutritional deficiencies, and implement timely and effective corrective measures.
  • Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment, ensuring their proper use and longevity.
  • Implement and enforce health and safety regulations and environmental protection standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of crop cycles, input usage (seeds, fertilizers, pesticides), yields, and labor hours.
  • Develop and adhere to crop production schedules and budgets.
  • Collaborate with farm management to develop and implement new farming techniques and sustainable practices.
  • Oversee post-harvest handling, storage, and initial processing of crops to ensure quality and minimize spoilage.
  • Prepare regular reports on farm performance, challenges, and recommendations.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of a Diploma in Agriculture, Horticulture, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of progressive experience in crop production supervision.
  • Proven experience with various irrigation systems (drip, sprinkler, furrow).
  • Strong knowledge of pest and disease identification and management.
  • Proficiency in farm machinery operation and basic maintenance.
  • Excellent leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Fluent in English and Swahili.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to challenges.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy or Agricultural Science.
  • Experience with organic farming practices or sustainable agriculture certifications.
  • Knowledge of record-keeping software for farm management.
  • Valid driving license for farm vehicles.
