Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated Fisherman & Seafood Production Specialist to join our client’s dynamic team in Spring Valley, Nairobi. As a Fisherman & Seafood Production Specialist, you will be instrumental in all stages of our seafood supply chain. Your day will typically begin early, venturing into local waters to responsibly harvest various marine species using appropriate techniques and equipment. Beyond the catch, your expertise will be critical in the initial processing stages, including sorting, cleaning, gutting, and preparing seafood for further processing or immediate distribution. Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain fishing vessels and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Execute fishing operations to harvest various marine species in accordance with sustainable practices and local regulations.
- Perform immediate post-harvest handling, including sorting, cleaning, gutting, and initial preservation of seafood.
- Ensure strict adherence to all food safety, hygiene, and quality control protocols during handling and processing.
- Monitor fish health and quality throughout the production process to meet industry standards.
- Maintain accurate records of catch volumes, processing details, and inventory levels.
- Assist with the loading, unloading, and transportation of seafood products.
- Conduct routine inspection and preventative maintenance on fishing gear and processing machinery.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to achieve daily production targets and operational goals.
- Identify and report any issues related to equipment, safety, or product quality immediately.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 2 years) in commercial fishing, aquaculture, or seafood harvesting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of various fishing techniques and equipment operation.
- Strong understanding of marine species identification and sustainable fishing practices.
- Exceptional physical fitness and stamina, with the ability to work in demanding outdoor and indoor conditions.
