Job Description

Are you a highly organized, detail-oriented, and people-focused Human Resources professional with a profound passion for talent acquisition? Migori County Government is seeking a dedicated and proactive Recruitment Officer Hiring Coordinator to join our esteemed Human Resources team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in attracting, selecting, and successfully onboarding exceptional talent who will contribute significantly to serving the citizens of Migori County.

You will be responsible for managing the entire recruitment lifecycle, from the initial job requisition and strategic sourcing to comprehensive candidate screening, interview coordination, offer management, and facilitating a seamless onboarding experience. Your primary goal will be to ensure a positive and professional experience for both our prospective candidates and our internal hiring managers. This position demands a keen understanding of modern recruitment best practices, exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, and an unwavering commitment to upholding the highest standards of fairness, transparency, and compliance with Kenyan labor laws in public sector hiring.

You will collaborate closely with various departmental heads across the county government to thoroughly understand their unique staffing needs, develop compelling and accurate job descriptions, and implement effective, data-driven sourcing strategies to identify and engage top-tier candidates from diverse backgrounds. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, from job requisition to offer acceptance and onboarding.
  • Collaborate with departmental heads to understand staffing needs and develop accurate job descriptions.
  • Implement diverse sourcing strategies to attract qualified candidates, including job boards, social media, and professional networks.
  • Screen resumes and conduct initial interviews to assess candidate qualifications and cultural fit.
  • Coordinate interview schedules, administer assessments, and facilitate feedback sessions with hiring managers.
  • Manage candidate communication, providing timely updates and ensuring a positive applicant experience.
  • Ensure all recruitment activities comply with internal policies and relevant Kenyan labor laws and regulations.
  • Maintain and update candidate databases and applicant tracking systems (ATS) with accurate information.
  • Prepare recruitment reports and metrics to track effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Assist with onboarding logistics to ensure a smooth transition for new employees.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in recruitment or talent acquisition.
  • Demonstrated experience managing full-cycle recruitment in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of recruitment best practices and sourcing techniques.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Swahili.
  • Proficiency in using Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and HRIS platforms.
  • In-depth knowledge of Kenyan labor laws and employment regulations.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Higher Diploma or Certificate in Human Resource Management (CHRP Kenya is a plus).
  • Experience working in the public sector or government administration.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple requisitions simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with competency-based interviewing techniques.
