Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, dressing, and feeding.
- Monitor and accurately record vital signs, escalating any significant changes to the nursing staff.
- Support patients with mobility and transfers, utilising appropriate equipment and techniques.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised environment for patients, adhering to infection control policies.
- Provide emotional support and comfort to patients, ensuring their dignity and privacy are respected.
- Communicate effectively and empathetically with patients, their families, and the wider healthcare team.
- Assist with meal preparation and feeding, ensuring adherence to dietary requirements and preferences.
- Document care provided promptly and accurately in patient records.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations and organisational policies and procedures.
- Contribute to the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care under supervision.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 1 year of recent experience as a Nursing Assistant or Healthcare Assistant.
- Proficiency in English (both written and spoken) to effectively communicate with patients and staff.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Basic understanding of health and safety procedures and infection control.
- Physical stamina and the ability to perform manual handling tasks safely.
- Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or an equivalent international qualification).
- Experience in diverse healthcare settings (e.g., acute care, elderly care, community care).
- Basic IT literacy for electronic record-keeping.
- Valid First Aid certification.
